Fully Vaccinated Tourists ‘Welcome’ to Canada as of September 7th! And More…

  •   US Citizens and Permanent Residents (residing in USA):

American citizens and permanent residents of the United States, who currently reside in the U.S. and who qualify as fully vaccinated travelers at least 14 days prior to entering Canada, will be able to enter Canada for optional travel starting August 9. Other foreign nationals cannot enter Canada at this time, unless exempted for being close family members to Canadian citizens or permanent residents, international students, or travel-exempt foreign workers.

Additionally, effective August 9, 2021, the Government of Canada is adjusting its post-arrival testing strategy for fully vaccinated travelers who will no longer need a post-arrival “PCR” test unless they have been randomly selected to complete a Day 1 COVID-19 molecular test. There are no changes to the mandatory testing requirements for unvaccinated travelers.

 

  •   Fully Vaccinated Tourists Welcomed as of September 7th:

After one-and-a-half-year of border closure, On September 7, 2021, the Government intends to open Canada’s borders to Any fully vaccinated travelers who have completed the full course of vaccination with a Government of Canada-accepted vaccine at least 14 days prior to entering Canada and who meet specific entry requirements.

 

  •   Unvaccinated Travelers Must Quarantine for 14-days:

Unvaccinated travelers or those who got a vaccine currently not recognized by the Canadian government must quarantine for 14 days. Those entering by air must also spend up to three of those days in a quarantine hotel, a rule that will end on Aug. 9. 

 

  • Unvaccinated Children under 18 are Exempt from Quarantine:

Unvaccinated children under 18 can head home with their vaccinated parents. Currently, they must quarantine but that rule will also change on Aug. 9, when the government will start allowing unvaccinated children under 12 to skip quarantine as long as they avoid group settings such as school, camps and daycares.

 

  • Hotel Quarantine Cancelled as of Aug.9th:

With increased vaccination rates in Canada and declining COVID-19 cases, the three-night government authorized hotel stay requirement will be eliminated for all travelers arriving by air as of 12:01 A.M. EDT on August 9. Fully vaccinated travelers who meet the requirements will be exempt from quarantine; however, all travelers must still provide a quarantine plan and be prepared to quarantine, in case it is determined at the border that they do not meet the necessary requirements.
