Canada Removes Extra CRS Points for Job Offers in Express Entry

As of March 25, 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has removed the additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points previously awarded to Express Entry candidates with valid job offers. This change applies to all future and current candidates in the Express Entry pool, including:

  • Senior management positions (NOC Major Group 00) – previously awarded 200 points

  • Other skilled occupations – previously awarded 50 points

Impact on Express Entry Candidates

  • Candidates with job offers: Their CRS scores will now be lower, reducing their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

  • Candidates without job offers: Their chances of receiving an ITA may improve, as their scores remain unchanged while other candidates’ scores decrease.

Who Is Not Affected?

  • Candidates who have already received an ITA or have a PR application in progress.

  • Job offers still matter if they are part of your eligibility criteria for programs such as:

    • The Federal Skilled Trades Program

    • The Federal Skilled Worker Program

    • Certain Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams

Important: You should continue to include job offer details in your Express Entry profile to maintain eligibility for these programs.
